Day 29
As I was looking at the photo of day 27 I wanted to create some fire inside of After Effects. So I sat down and created with the help of Trapcode Form this "Fire" render. I think it is more suited for Motion Graphics and not so much for realistic renders.
Day 30
I will continue on the fire theme a bit and produce some more "fire-y" renders this week.
So I sat down and with the help of the free C4d Zippo-Model from Ivan van de Velde, that you can get over at Pixellab if you subscribe to their newsletter, I created this render.
I added some scratches to the Zippo surface and tweaked the lighting of the scene. The "fire" was created with C4ds Pyrocluster-Shader. I haven't figured out all the ins and outs of this shader and I'm not quite sure if it is the best choice if you want to create fire. As it hadn't much detail in it I had to fake some depth with the help of Fractal Noise on the flame inside of AFX.
I might try out the demo version of Turbulence FD this week as I have heard so many good things about it lately.
Day 31
As Blender also has the option to generate fire I tried it today. It looks quite interessting (like fire bursting out of the earth) even tough I wanted to generate something completely different when I started. I had to crank up the settings really high which made Blender unstable so I stopped experimenting at some point
Day 32
I experimented with creating fire in Tracode Particular and used some fire footage as the sprite particles for it. It renders faster in comparison to the 3d options I tested so far but all depends on how good and sharp the footage is you use. Tomorrow I will probably do some tests with Turbulence FD...
Day 33
As Turbulence FD has so many settings and sliders I decided to once more use another tool to create a firey scene.
So I went back to C4ds Pyrocluster and some Thinking Particles to create this Fireplace. Still not 100% photo-real as it still looks more like clouds but I like how it turned out. And as it comes bundled with C4d there are no additional costs involved which is always good :-)
But I think tomorrow I will use the demo of TFD
Day 34
So finally I did some tests with Turbulence FD and I have to say that is a lot of fun. Even tough there are so many sliders and settings, you can get good looking results within minutes. I think it will be one of those plug ins I'll come back to more often and explore what each and every setting will do.
There is a watermark in the render as I don't have a full license yet.
Day 35
As I haven't exported any animations since I started this project, I sat down today and created a short one for the render from Day 33. Nothing fancy. Just some slight camera movement and SFX
