Day 297-298
SideFX announced that they will release an Indie version of their award winning VFX software Houdini which will cost a fraction of the normal price with only a few limitation. So I decided to look into it and see if it will be something I should learn as most of the big blockbusters use it for their simulations.
It takes time to get used to it and I don't think it will replace Cinema for me but I could definitely see it as a companion to it. It also has some nice presets to work with so I just dropped an Explosion into a scene and adjusted some settings (it will take me quite some time to really understand what everything does and how to set something likethis up for myself) and hit the render button. It is missing a lot of fine detail but I can see why it is used by the big comanies and will learn how to use it ;-)
Day 299
Another one of my sunset "digital-paintings"
Day 300-301
To celebrate Day 300 of this project I used MoText to write the number 300 and turned it into Geo to make cloth out of it. After tweaking of some parameters, I turned this cloth into the emitter for my particles. After some final comping(mostly bluríng the particles to make them more dust like) I came up with this.
Day 302
A giant cloud that looks like a "smiley"-face
Day 303
I needed a break and wasn't at the PC all day.
